TechFest is an annual celebration of technology in the Dayton area.
The program strives to increase awareness of Dayton's technical societies
and educational institutions and encourage adults and students to consider careers in science and engineering.
The program is a community service of the
Affiliate Societies Council and those organizations which sponsor the program and which participate
in the program. Follow the links on the ASC web site to learn more about TechFest.
SWFTEC participates in the event planning and provides interactive
displays for the (ICOD) Inventor's Council of Dayton tables and
some manpower during the event. Every year since the first TechFest in 2003 we have had our
wind tunnel setup with a 1/32 scale model of the Wright 1903 flyer. The attendees learn
about the design choices that Dayton's Wright Brothers made based on the aeronautical
engineering and science that they created and developed. Attendees can try flying the 1903
flyer in the wind tunnel to learn first hand lessons on stability and control theory.
Each year we add more enteractive demos.
